In this role, I have built on my critical thinking experience to solve a wide range of problems in my department and across the company. In many ways my role has moved away from technical challenges and instead moved towards process and people management, To balance the technical and non-technical aspects of my job, I purposefully take on the lead quality engineering role for a few new offerings. From the management perspective, I thoroughly enjoy thinking through team strategy, from hiring to coaching, to resolving technical and personal problems within my team and across the company. Having the flexibility to try different approaches and iterate through new ideas is the quality at Alarm.com that I enjoy most. One area that has been extremely challenging, yet rewarding, is finding creative ways to "Manage Up". I continue to explore new ways in influence change!

As a Senior Quality Engineer at Alarm.com, I work primarily as the lead Quality Engineer on all projects related to Alarm.coms HVAC subsidariary Building 36. Building 36, is a part of the bigger buisness that targets HVAC installers with a variety of service offerings to improve the overall comfort and efficiency of devices commonly found in households. In my capacity as a lead QE, I organized a sub-group of three Quality Engineers to build infrastucture to test and maintain coverage over new products being introduced to the Alarm.com/Building 36 ecosystem. Additionally, my team spearheads our departments goal of expanding our automated covereage for all products and features we support on the Home Automation team. One of the more fun components of my work is help mentor and coach my direct reports in their careers. I find this work challenging but highly rewarding as they grow from strength-to-strength. Recently, I trained one of my direct reports to take over as lead Quality Engineer for the Building 36 offering as I tackle new challenges around the department. I look forward to seeing how they continue to grow in their careers.

During my time as a Quality Engineer, I primarily was spent my time as the lead Quality Engineering on the Nucleus project. The Nucleus is a home-automation hub that connects an expanding ecosystem of IoT devices to the Alarm.com offering. This ecosystem includes z-wave: light, locks, thermostats, sensors, and garage doors. What does a Quality Engineer mean? As a Quality Engineer, I spend the majority of my day breaking things! More specifically, I try to determine loopholes in the coding logic of the automation hubs firmware and additionally of the software that connects the hub to the Alarm.com back-end services. If I do my job well, the end-user has a streamlined experience between installing devices and interacting with the IoT devices. The hub is now installed in thousands of properties around the world.

As a graduate student in a two year Masters in Science program, I researched the mechanical properties of ice in a material science laboratory. The program itself was divided into coursework and research. The coursework component is based around six semester long classes, three directly in their research area and three electives . The research component runs throughout the two year program and culminates in a thesis defense of your research project. The exact title of my thesis defense was "The Effect of Healing on the Brittle Compressive Strength of Ice that Contains Faults". Specifically, i developed a model that could predict the restoration of mechanical strength as a function of time of specimen compression, external temperature, force along the fault line, and roughness at the fault interface.

-Investigate the relationship between microstructure and the mechanical properties (specifically friction) of ice.- Design and created customized apparatus to house ice samples during experiments
