Assisted the Environmental Team of a large UK based engineering consultancy as part of my degree programme. During my time here I worked as part of a team to deliver different reports while meeting budget, time-frame and quality objectives. Was part of a team that delivered several EIAs and EAR’s for different clients, including the extension of the Millennium Way road in Lurgan and the widening of the Northway Road in Portadown. Here I was exposed to all aspects of the report, from noise and air qualilty assessments to ecology surveys. Responsible for drawing up PQPs for certain projects where I had to price certain jobs. This made me more aware of the economics involved in these projects and the importance of sticking to budgets. Completed several site visits and surveys such as bat and bird surveys which enhanced my knowledge on the importance of these and how they are done correctly. Responsible for sending out consultation letters to different agencies such as the NIEA and RSPB to obtain feedback on any potential environmental effects of certain projects.
