Senior Managing Director
CurrentStephen E. Perkins, a local Washingtonian, is a Senior Managing Director and an expert in the DC regional market. He brings his 39 years of commercial real estate expertise to our team and focuses on complex joint ventures as well as tenant representation and select agency leasing. Before joining Newmark Grubb Knight Frank, Mr. Perkins was a Senior Vice President at JLL from 2001 through 2013. Prior to that, Mr. Perkins was a Senior Vice President with Transwestern Carey Winston and was recognized as the US top producer in 1999. From 1993 through 1997, he was the managing director of Virginia Leasing for Faison & Associates, Inc. where he specialized in the leasing of over 2,500,000 square feet of first class office buildings and handled the TIAA/CREF’s Virginia portfolio of 1.1 million square feet. Prior to that, between 1986 and 1993, Mr. Perkins served as a principal for The Hunter Companies where he was responsible for staffing and running the Virginia office. He began his career in 1979 with Blake Construction and was responsible for leasing their private portfolio in Washington DC. Mr. Perkins has led lease negotiations for numerous corporate clients, including New York Life, US Sprint Communications, BAE Systems, United Airlines, as well as Virginia Tech Foundation, totaling over 3,000,000 square feet. In addition, he recently represented Florida Rock Properties, Inc. in structuring a 1.2 million square foot mixed use joint venture with MRP Realty on the Anacostia River adjacent to Nationals Park.
