CurrentI am a trial lawyer with extensive experience in commercial, class action, ERISA, intellectual property, director and officer, complex insurance coverage and insurance bad faith litigation. I have represented parties in federal and state courts across the country, as well as in arbitrations and in foreign jurisdictions. I have tried a range of cases to verdict and have extensive appellate experience in both state and federal courts. In the area of ERISA, I have litigated a wide range of denial of benefit, breach of fiduciary duty, executive compensation and class action cases in state courts, federal district courts, the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination. I also counsel clients on employment law, ERISA compliance and benefit plan design issues. I have led teams of lawyers charged with drafting plan documents, with assisting clients in complying with ERISA, and with revising employers’ benefit programs. I was named one of the best 15 ERISA lawyers in the country in 2015 by the National Association of Plan Advisors. I have published a number of articles on a variety of complex topics in ERISA litigation, and am a frequent speaker on ERISA litigation issues. I have spoken before a variety of trade groups, national organizations, bar associations and corporate groups, including AIG, ASPPA, the Massachusetts Bar, the American Conference Institute and the New England Employee Benefits Council. I have also been quoted in a wide range of publications on subjects ranging from ERISA disputes, to intellectual property litigation, to insurance law, including InsideCounsel magazine, Business Insurance, the National Law Journal, Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly, LawyersUSA and the BNA Pension and Benefits Reporter.
