Financial Controller - Surface Analysis – MSDManaging local integration activities and the restructuring of the business after the move into another Thermo Fisher Division (MSD) and part of the Materials Science Product Line. This was done in two stages, with production moving from East Grinstead in the UK to Brno in the Czech Republic and then finally moving SA business from the UK Legal entity into the MSD global entities. Continued to have entity responsibility for UK legal entity. • Conducted reviews and evaluated potential savings on restructuring projects related to the East Grinstead site with presentations to senior management.• Supported the move of production from East Grinstead in the UK to Brno in the Czech Republic.• Transferred production fixed assets and inventory, migrated Bills of material and validated before and after product costs.• Participated in the Surface Analysis integration project from the UK entity into the MSD global entities, covering all business and financial flows.• Collaborated in the transfer of revenue from the UK entity to the MSD global sales entities and worked with the tax teams on a royalty payment model. • Dealt with the annual Audit and liaised with the Auditors resolving queries on the Statutory accounts and worked with Internal Audit on Tri-annual reviews.• Introduced R& D project reporting.• Responsible for implementing Hyperion Planning 2.0.

Business partnering with the Global SA Product Line lead. This was a standalone Business line with the Thermo Fisher product portfolio. Business migrated to a different division within Thermo Fisher after Thermo Fishers acquisition of FEI based in Eindhoven creating a job role change.• Evaluated and implemented cost saving opportunities both Opex and sourcing.• Supported the introduction of PPI into the East Grinstead facility with monthly tracking of actuals versus plan, holding monthly meetings and working with local teams on bridging gaps.• Dealt with the annual Audit and liaised with the Auditors resolving queries on the Statutory accounts and worked with Internal Audit on Tri-annual reviews.• Responsible for implementing Hyperion Planning 1.0 and FDMEE into the site reporting.• Developing staff to facilitate individual development and eliminated skills gap.

Responsible for a team of 4 covering the FW EMEA Business unit, this includes manufacturing facilities in France and Germany, with sales of $280M, cost of production $150M and inventory of $50M.SAP Business Process Champion for the FW Operations finance team, migrating from Movex to SAP in Spring 2012.Business Partner for local site management and Regional directors, reviewing and evaluating projects such as Make v Buy, inventory management and product cost reductions.Assisted in the preparation of Strategic decision making as part of the ongoing consolidation of the global manufacturing footprint. Management of staff in a multicultural and multinational environment including yearend appraisals.Used Hyperion to deliver timely plans and presentations for group review including actuals, forecasts and budgets both at the plant and European level including additional back up schedules as required.

Responsible for a team of 3 covering the control, reporting, analysis and planning for the Parker Pen manufacturing facility in Newhaven, with £38M production, £20M sourced product, £20m inventory and £2M capital spend.Reviewed, evaluated and executed restructuring projects relating to the Newhaven facility. Presented to senior management on progress.• Transfer of Parker production to Newell facility in France.• Transfer of Parker production to third party in China.• Re-integration of Berol production from China into Newhaven.• Exiting manual pen production.• Transfer of Newhaven distribution centre to central UK DC in Birmingham.• Transfer of Berol production to third party in China.• Closure of Kings Lynn facility and transfer into Newhaven.Migrated the manufacturing operations from JBA to MOVEX, a windows based ERP system. Process owner for operational accounting covering the gap analysis, implementation and start up phases for costing, purchasing and planning.Migrated general ledger accounting to our shared service facility in Holland. Coordinated the SOX implementation involving close liaison with both Internal Audit and senior European management.Managed the transition to Newell Rubbermaid in 2001 including first full stock check in 4 years, restatement to Newell GAAP, fixed asset appraisal, re-budget, new transfer pricing methodology and large scale stock returns from distributors and affiliates.

Responsible for the costing, inventory, fixed assets and reporting for the Newhaven manufacturing facility, with production of £30M, sourced product of £10M, inventory of £10M and capital spend of £1M.Supported the closure of our US sister plant and integrated 4 major product families into Newhaven.Developed new product costs for ranges such as Reflex, Frontier, Inflection and Duofold.Verified all cost saving calculations on capital cost reduction programmes and profit improvement programmes.Implemented full overhead costing using absorption of standard hours as a basis.Introduced kanban and phantoms into the factory as the start of our Lean manufacturing process.Developed a scrap reporting system in conjunction with product managers to increase visibility and give Quality the opportunity to improve processes.Involved in the restatement of all P&L and Balance Sheet accounts to Newell GAAP and a full fixed asset appraisal.
