I create Installation, Operation and Maintenance manuals for equipment sold both domestically and internationally. I design and print safety, operational and branding labels as well as design and print materials for sales and marketing requirements.My work includes revising the manual layouts, for all products, for easier readability. I create new manuals incorporating more digital photos, line-art and 3D CAD images and less verbiage. I am working on a format for the manuals for a more global fit. This approach would also save on translation costs into other languages. The manual work isn't limited to the corporate location, but also the three other domestic production facilities as well as several international ones. I have also brought the printing of labeling in-house affording the company a better quality product; faster turn-around times, at significant cost savings. The estimated annual savings by bringing this process in-house is over $25,000.00. Payback on the initial equipment purchase was approximately six months.

I served as lead engineer on pre-production for a device in the testing/FDA evaluation phase. I assisted with assembly protocol and implementation design. I participated in FDA-required testing and document generation.I handled the set-up, calibration and maintenance of a three-axis desktop mini-mill. I designed, fabricated and tested prototypes for R&D requirements. I worked with engineers to move products from prototype to production. I also designed and built a fixture for the sub-assembly of parts for FDA/clinical testing, and also designed and built a fixture for use in production of it with the goal of producing it consistently at a reduced cost. Assisted with supplier performance evaluations. Performed the initial set-up of a 5S program for the facility. Created illustrations and animations, and photographed products, for technical documentation, manuals and training. I was also the recipient of a National Science Foundation Grant (Internship use-specific).

Held responsibility for analyzing and compiling product specifications. Prepared costs to quote bid packages, and designed visual support materials for manufacturing. Coordinated with corporate purchasing on sourced items. Calculated manufactured part dimensions for best sheet yield, machine center for fabrication, and process costs. Produced visual materials to facilitate consistent assemblies with less non-compliant material.• Identified, proposed, and implemented part consolidation initiative resulting in significant time savings, improved quality, and reduced product cost. Achieved 15-minute time savings related to setup and fabrication, with cost savings of $12 per unit.• Designed and assembled part dispenser system that optimized organization of shop floor space; improved fabrication setup time by 2%, and improved inventory control.

Managed and handled full life-cycle development of user manuals and product graphics, while delivering comprehensive support for marketing and sales functions and trade show events. Redesigned safety labeling to meet current standards, produced trade publication advertisements, and coordinated participation in yearly trade show. Managed daily activities of one Junior Designer.• Created generic 900-page user manual that generated substantial savings in time (four hours per manual), material and storage space ($1200). • Promoted upgrade of in-house color printing equipment to improve delivery time-frames and improve quality control; improved product turnaround from days to hours.
