Stephen Spies is an Emmy Winning Composer & Sound Designer for Film, Animation, TV and Interactive Media. He’s scored over 200 visual media projects including Films and TV shows for Netflix, Hulu and Prime Video and commercials for companies such as Mattel, Samsung, and HyperX. He has also done sound design, audio mixing/engineering and music for numerous video games, virtual reality (VR) projects and films (short and feature length) that have screened worldwide. He recently won an Emmy award for his work with Scot Stafford on the soundtrack to the Netflix TV show, “Lost Ollie”. Stephen holds a BA in Music Composition from UCLA (University of California Los Angeles). He started playing violin at the age of 5, and grew up largely surrounded by a family of folk musicians. He was introduced to music composition when he entered the Crowden School of Music for middle school.His love for film music developed when his first composition teacher had him improvise, compose and perform music for silent films. He continued to compose for his friends, and eventually for symphony orchestras such the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra.In his spare time he plays guitar and sings with his folk-rock band, Hello Noon, and volunteers as a songwriting instructor at “My Friend’s Place”, a resource center for homeless youth in Los Angeles.
