As a Chicago native I have proudly been exposed to its diverse cultures within the city and the suburbs surrounding it. As a result I found witnessing the lifestyle of so many different individuals and the pride in their heritage, I developed a curiosity in determining what made these individuals tick, especially figuring out what drove them to make certain decisions regarding their choices and behavior.After a number of year of being in and out of college I was eventually given a full scholarship to Concordia University Chicago and sought a degree in Theology. Concordia’s curriculum for Theology included many of the things in which I have been extremely passionate. The focuses of this major included religious understanding, methods in teaching and research, history, ethical philosophies and foreign languages. I sought efforts to pursue these passions beyond the university classrooms by mentoring younger students, conducting and teaching Bible studies, and tutoring and mentoring my younger fellow classmates.As a result of my adolescent background, work experience, and that of a non-traditional student I have been exposed to a number of diverse environments. My passion for helping others to become self-sufficient has also come naturally to me throughout my work and school experience and I would take pleasure in continuing to do so for those who experience similar hurdles as I have along with completing a degree and career in Clinical and Mental Health Counseling.
