I am a seasoned and vetted software professional with extensive management experience. At my last position, I was asked to step into the role of Chief Software Architect. The GCV military vehicle contract was both extremely visible and potentially lucrative. I was challenged with a six week deadline to take control of the software architecture. The team that I was asked to lead was dysfunctional. There was a mix of in-house architects as well as members from four separate subcontractors. Even worse, a lack of both team and technical cohesion had lead to a disgruntled customer. And yet, there was goodness hidden in the team’s proposed architecture. I just had to eliminate the chaos and allow it to emerge. My management and technical background, along with sheer determination allowed me to bring the team together into a functioning whole. We salvaged the best parts of the architecture, and corrected the areas that were rough. But, most importantly, we rectified the problems with the customer relationship. My impact on this project was strong enough to earn me a permanent position as the corporate-wide Chief Software Architect. I love facing down difficult challenges that result in a victory for the business. I strongly believe that my education, training, and academic experience has given me confidence as a leader. My greatest strength is my ability to combine technical problem solving, relationship building and team leadership into a fierce, but rewarding business approach.I thoroughly enjoy Software and IA/Cyber architecture. I have a “ground up”, fundamental understanding of computing systems and networks. I am able to see even large scale system developments and migrations through to implementation. In my years with General Dynamics, I led both the Software Architecture and Abrams sustainment developer teams. I fostered a spirit of innovative, competitive approaches to technical challenges. To sum it up… I love business and I love technology!
