My responsibilities included the line management and development of up to 75 in-house staff, operational performance, the profit and loss account, quarterly/annual forecasting, business planning and business development.During my first 6 months in post I introduced 37 continuous improvement or innovation measures to embed a new culture within the business. In February 2012 I secured certification for ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001. I introduced lean techniques and robust project governance principles to significantly improve delivery, client satisfaction and design costs.

Responsible for assisting with the delivery and development of the Highways Agency Area 5 Local Network Management Scheme (LNMS) Portfolio. I managed a team of 30 staff and directed the development of the LNMS studies and scheme designs. I also managed the supervision of the construction of the LNMS Portfolio consisted of 62 projects and over £8M of in-year construction. I built and nurtured relationships with the Highways Agency and the Area 5 Term Maintenance Contractor (Carillion) through a partnering approach. I created an environment conducive to adding value and improving efficiency/effectiveness to deliver the LNMS Portfolio to programme and budget.

Responsible for the development of the Highways Agency Area 5, Local Network Management Schemes (LNMS) team, in a new office location, and the delivery of the 2005/06 LNMS Portfolio of 91 projects totalling over £7M. A key element of the new role was the consolidation of the roles of three separate managers in order to provide greater coordination and reliability in the delivery of LNMS.

Responsible for the coordination and supervision of the construction of the Highways Agency Area 5 Local Network Management Schemes (LNMS) and Summary Surfacing portfolios. This required close liaison with both the Area 5 Design Teams and the Term Maintenance Contractor, Carillion.My experience aided in the development and delivery of processes which ensured efficient delivery, adherence to best practice and the use of innovation wherever possible. This facilitated the delivery of an additional £2.5M worth of surfacing works at 14 locations between January and March 2003. This work helped to develop and consolidate key long term relationships within the Area 5 Commission.

Responsible for the project management and direction of schemes from the Highways Agency Area 5 LNMS Portfolio. I managed schemes from conception to completion, including settlement of the final account. Project values ranged from £100K-£3M. All projects were tendered and awarded as discrete schemes.Many schemes were designed by virtual teams across 4 office locations. Ensuring delivery to programme and budget required sound project management skills and the development of close working relationships with senior managers in all office locations.Additional responsibilities included, the review of Traffic Impact Assessments associated with planning applications affecting the Area 5 network. When development was permitted I was responsible for managing the design or the provision of guidance to the developer’s consultant to ensure compliance with HA specifications and standards. During my time with PB I managed the engineering design or construction phases of over 65 projects.
