As a professor in the English Education Department of the College of Education, I help train future teachers of the English language. If they become successful teachers, and their students learn to USE English (and not just study ABOUT English), then my colleagues and I will have succeeded.

Technologies: Natural-ADABAS, JCL, JavaScript.System design, documentation, development, testing, implementation and support. Also taught a team of Oracle programmers in how to program in Natural-ADABAS and use JCL to submit jobs.As an SE 3, I often provided critical help to keep multi-million dollar projects afloat. Technical designs might be lacking a key piece, and I'd do the redesign that was chosen. Or FCC regulations might not have been considered, and I'd be part of a team to redesign to avoid fines.

Tutored linguistics students, graded papers, taught up to twice per semester (once per class section), and staffed help desk at Linguistics Department.

Summers only (Summer Institute of Linguistics).Attended and assisted with lectures, tutored students, graded papers, edited curriculum materials.At UND-SIL, the teachers also live together in a dorm with the students, eat together, and play sports together. Naturally, we discuss life as well as phonology, syntax, semantics, etc.
