While working in this position, my primary objective was; improve and expand the Army Logistics Lessons Learned Program throughout the Department and Defense and to maximize existing resources by consolidating all Logistics Lessons Learned capabilities in order to establish a "Center of Excellence" for Logistics/Sustainment Lessons Learned. I directly supervised a team of 3 senior Warrant Officers ( Technical Experts) from the Ordnance, Transportation and Quartermaster Branches, 1 Army Civilian Training Specialist and 2 Army Government ContractorsDuties included;Served as a Branch Chief; Integrating and performing a variety of analytical, planning, and related tasks concerning collective training of active and reserve component sustainment unit personnel and organizations rotating through the four Combat Training Centers (CTCs). Applies knowledge of Army in the field for Doctrine, Organizations, Training, Materials, Leadership, Personnel, and Facilities (DOTMLPF). Attends meetings and serves as CASCOM's representative with Army Staff and Higher Headquarters, and other logistics programs stakeholders on collective training issues, such as; Unifed Land Operations (ULO) Decisive Action Training Environment (DATE) focused rotations, Subject Matter Expert (SME) support, and logistics proponency visits to the CTCs. Prepares and executes the Directorate's CTC/Center for Army Lessons Learned (CALL) annual budget. Supervises 3 Senior Warrant Officer SME's, 1 CTC Training Specialist and two Lessons Learned Integration analysts contracted through CALL. Prepares and presents briefings on CTC/L2 programs to CASCOM Directors, PCC students and VIPs upon request. Ensures established L2I collection programs are executed correctly and collected data is distributed across the domains of DOTML-PF.

Fort Irwin, Ca Aka National Training Center

This brigade was comprised of over 1800 Soldiers and over 1000 Civilians (200 Army Civilians and 800+ Contractors). The primary mission of this unit was to successfully support the training units coming to the National Training Center (NTC). These are brigade sized formations consisting of 4000-5000 Soldiers and their complete Table of Organizational Equipment (TOE). The unit supported the training unit's arrival and departure from the NTC, and supported them while "in the box" aka the training area, equivalent to the size of Maryland in land mass with Maintenance recovery, supply and services and Air Ambulance support. The Arrival and Departure of Brigade sized units included Operations in Surface (Rail and Truck) and Air covering operations over 150 miles from the NTC. During this assignment, I was responsible for 14 Brigade Training Rotations. All other duties included;Supervision• The command sergeant major supervises enlisted employees to ensure that performance, preparation, appearance, and behavior of the enlisted meet the standards maintained by the Army. The CSM bears the responsibility of disciplining Soldiers found in non compliance of the standards.Administration• A CSM is expected to be an authority in all policies and procedures. In conjunction with their supervision of the battalion, they must be able to effectively carry out disciplinary procedures and miscellaneous tasks related to administration and paperwork. For example, they are held accountable for various rolls, reports, and rosters.Advising• Recommendations are made to commanding officers by the CSM as a result of their observation of the battalion and broad knowledge of duties and expectations.Performance• The command sergeant major is expected to perform entirely devoid of supervision. Performing duties calmly, precisely, and earnestly is all expected of the Soldier holding the distinction of CSM. All of this is expected to be upheld even through the worst of times.

262Nd Quartermaster Battalion

The mission of this battalion was Advanced Individual Training (AIT) for Soldiers new to the Army and having only completed thier Basic Combat Training, arrived at this battalion to become "MOSQ", (Military Occupational Specialty Qualifed) and then they were sent out to the active duty Army, or back to the reserves and National Guard. This unit also conducted training for skill identifiers for Soldiers and Officers, such as Mortuary Affairs, Petroleum and Water Operations and Field Services (laundry and bath) and Parachute Rigging/ Airborne Operations. The merit of command sergeant major (CSM) in the US Army is the essence of success in the armed force as it is the highest grade of rank and the greatest honor for an enlisted soldier. Soldiers holding this distinction possess more experience than any other soldier in their battalion. Senior Drill Sergeant/Platoon SergeantServed as a Senior Drill Sergeant in a Basic Combat Training Brigade, overall responsible for the accountability, supervision, professional development, and evaluation of two Drill Sergeants; resposible for the training of 360 Initial Entry Training Soldiers per year, as well as accountability, serviceability of individual and organizational equipment valued in excess of $125,000; responsible for instilling discipline, enforcing the Army Values and military standards while providing leadership, guidance and counseling for Drill Sergeants and IET Soldiers; responsible for ensuring all Training and Doctrine Command Programs of Instruction and training guidelines are met and all Soldiers meet the Army Standards of a Soldier.Served as a Drill Sergeant in a Basic Combat Training (BCT) company; responsible for individual training, supervision, and development of 40-60 Initial Entry Training Soldiers per nine week cycle; responsible for ensuring that standards are met to provide the U.S. Army with disciplined, physically and morally fit Soldiers, competent in warrior core tasks, who can fight and win regardless of MOS; coordinates and integrates logistics, maintenance, and safety in all platoon operations.
