We are increasingly using emerging technologies to make the process of buying tickets easier and more convenient.Northern has 4,900 employees providing nearly 2500 local and regional train services every weekday, making us the largest train operator in the UK.We run trains across the north of England, serving a population of nearly 15 million.We lease over 300 trains, and they call at over 500 stations (approximately 20% of all UK railway stations), of which we manage 462.I joined the public transport industry in 2000, when I worked for Merseytravel, the Passenger Transport Executive for Merseyside. During my time at Merseytravel I worked with Train Operating Companies on financial and operational compliance issues.I joined Northern shortly after its formation in 2004, initially as Revenue Development Manager. In 2007 I moved to the role of Head of Business Development, managing revenue, pricing and retailing.Since April 2014 I have focused on the modernisation of Northern's retailing, overseeing investments in ticketing systems that will make rail travel more attractive to a wider range of customers.Specialties: Market / demographic analysis, multimodal ticketing, rail retailing, mobile ticketing, smart ticketing, strategic planning, rail industry revenue systems, team development, local and national government liaison, stakeholder management, business case development
