In 1997, I formed a Limited Liability Company to purchase and manage the apartment building I'd been inhabiting as a renter since 1995. Located in Kansas City's culturally and economically diverse Westside neighborhood, this was an opportunity to settle in to a place of my own, helping renew a property in an exciting community. Since purchasing the 3-story c. 1911 brick six-plex apartment building and adjascent carriage house, improvements are ongoing. My goal here is to provide a great, affordable home for myself and a few other beings, and to develop a plan for ongoing improvements and maintenance. Presently, I am seeking a collaborative partnership with an arts/engineering/building genius to design sustainable systems that will keep this a comfortable, safe place to live for many years to come, knowing that fuel needs and climate change will affect everyone's lives quite drastically in the very near future.

In 1998, I began providing video duplication services for telecom behemoth Sprint, at their World Headquarters in Westwood, KS. 9 years later duties include media library management, raw stock inventory maintenance, and easy digital capture, editing and encoding using Adobe Premeire, Encoder, and Encore.

JAVAGAIA, a coffeehouse with an agenda, never got off the grid, but after my first year in business, a hactare of rainforest trees were planted in JAVAGAIA's name, reforesting a logged area in Costa Rica from the donation of $.25 for every to-go container that left our shop. All biodegradeable waste was collected for an urban composting project. Set in an old industrial foundry, transformed by a team of artist-entrepeneurs with sculptural elements throughout, the coffeehouse was devised as a profit-center for a forum for personal awakening, progressive social examination and community-building, and intelligent performance and entertainment. Open only for a year-and-a-half before being destroyed by flood, JAVAGAIA was a treasured moment in my own life and in the eyes of many who passed through its realm of influence.
