During my time at PHEAA I was the Testing Manager for several different testing practices. I began my tenure at PHEAA building a 50 person Functional test team for all custom and COTS software implemented at PHEAA in support of processing Federal and Private Student Loans. When I left PHEAA I was managing 508 Compliance, Security Scanning and Performance testing. We conducted all application security including container scans to ensure applications are secure prior to deploy to production. Our biggest area of responsibility was performance testing for websites and mobile applications. In support of our team's mission we worked to develop an understanding of the needs of each Business Unit within PHEAA. We had the challenge of testing mandated changes to meet federal deadlines on short notice as well as implementing a large number of long term projects to better serve our customers via the web, phone and IM. This made for a big challenge as we implemented this testing in support of 8 different development teams with a small testing team.

Was the Test Lead for a multi national 38-member team validating changes in underwriting rules and rollout of new coverages for home and auto insurance.Learned to be an expert resource scheduler and many colleagues adopted the analytical tools that I developed. Biggest challenge was been balancing different skillsets of less experienced team members while still meeting deadlines. Responsible for capacity planning, ensuring vacation coverage and overseeing charging of hours to projects. In a typical year I oversaw the staffing and completion of more than 180 testing efforts.Am an early adopter of new business processes because change means growth and new skills. No surprise given my “can do” attitude; I am the “go to” guy for change management because I can easily develop detailed assignment plans that are credible and accurate. When it comers to large projects, the leadership relies on me to take lead as code defect manager. My colleagues rely on me to share my advanced HP QC skills to build custom reports and analytics important to the management team. I was happy to recently have the challenge of building out a mobile test team for a large project. We utilized the resources across multiple offices worldwide to have testing conducted 12 hours a day with testers able to collaborate with the multiple development teams that were also distributed across multiple offices.

When you are in consulting you get to do a variety of fun stuff. My experience with PI ranged from functionality and performance testing of cable modems to training and managing a team of contractors from another company to test processing of orders submitted through the client's website. My biggest takeaway from my time at PI was being handed 6 contractors fresh off the plane and being told to train them to test website front end functionality and validate that all the orders properly flowed through to the companies backend systems including triggering service changes on customers cable modems. I also became the face of the project with the Business team explaining how technical considerations impacted the implementation of the requirements and conducting walkthroughs for every release.
I spent 10 years at IBM in both technical and Business analyst roles helping clients create custom developed applications to enhance their business functions. For the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania I was the Technical Lead for a team of 17 developers of both IBM and State programmers who developed a paperless case management system for the Department of Workers Comp. Part of my job included prepping the state workers with programming skills and the ability to maintain and expand the system once IBM completed the initial project. I developed and taught targeted SQL and Programming courses to retrain the state employees who had previously maintained the departments mainframe systems. For a multi-national insurance company I ran the analysis meetings to gather the requirements from the american and european offices which wrote most of the companies business. They ran separate systems and I was tasked with creating a single underwriting system that both offices could use to communicate with offices worldwide. For the project I developed the Front end, Requirements document and Security Schema. With the launch of the project we reduced underwriting time from 30 to 10 business days.

I was originally brought on as a temp employee to manage conversion of the board art for all product packaging to Adobe Illustrator with the nutritional information updated per the new government nutritional regulations known as NLEA.Based on this success I was asked to stay on as a contractor and write a project management system for creation and alteration of product packaging which the in-house IT department had rejected as impossible due to the complexity of the project data. I interviewed all the departments with a stake in the packaging process and in 6 months with the assistance of a part-time DBA rolled the first release out to 125 users.
