About Stephen Nelson
I am #FamilyFirst and a proud Japanese American. I’m also broadcaster for the Los Angeles Dodgers, and an anchor for ESPN’s SportsCenter. This new chapter back home in Southern California begins after five years at MLB / NHL Network. While working for the Secaucus-based networks, I had the privilege of hosting every show on the networks’ programming schedules—most notably ‘Intentional Talk’ alongside Kevin Millar. I also worked as a play-by-play broadcaster for both baseball and hockey (Friday Night Baseball on Apple TV+, MLB Game of the Week on YouTube, MLB Network Showcase, MLB Network Clubhouse, NHL Network Showcase, and the World Junior Hockey Championships.)Before MLBN, I was at Bleacher Report. I hosted live shows, called live games, produced feature pieces, and did voiceover. In 2016, I was named a member of Forbes' "30 Under 30" class in sports (this was a clear mistake, but please don't tell Forbes).Prior to joining B/R in 2014, I spent two+ years as a sports reporter and anchor at KEZI-TV in Eugene, Ore. covering Oregon and Oregon State athletics. Before my stop in Eugene, I served as the studio host and multimedia broadcaster for the Rockford IceHogs, AHL affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks. For three years in college, I worked for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and Angel Stadium's entertainment production staff, and also spent the 2010-2011 season with the Anaheim Ducks in the same capacity.I graduated from Chapman University and the Dodge College of Film and Media Arts with a B.F.A in broadcast journalism and a minor in public relations. (Magna Cum Laude if you’re interested in college grades, for some reason.)If you made it this far, God bless you 🤙
Listed skills include Final Cut Pro, Enps, Imovie, Sports, and 43 others.
