Throughout my 28 years in the insurance industry I have worked in the Disability Income, Long Term Care, Critical Illness Insurance, and Life Insurance markets. This journey has been a phenomenal one as I have had the privilege to work in, or closely with, nearly every key function of our industry. Product Development, Actuarial, Marketing, Underwriting, Customer Service, Claims, P&L Responsibility, Direct and Reinsurance operations. Each new twist of my career has afforded me the opportunity to add breadth and depth to my understanding of our products. Whether traditional individual, worksite, or group platforms, stand-alone coverage, or attached as riders, I have seen how different approaches resonate within various segments of the population.I consider myself fortunate to have had all of these opportunities as they enabled me to step back and see the big picture in ways I might not have if I had remained in one product or discipline throughout my career. Mastery of a topic, however, does not come from simple learning. Nor does it come from years of experience alone. Instead, it develops from sharing, spreading the word, and conveying ones passion of a given topic. In my case, I’ve been fortunate enough to work for an employer who agrees with and supports that approach and within industries that are dedicated to that ideal. Throughout my career in living benefits I have presented more than a hundred times at conferences and sales meetings, conducted valuable training for dozens of clients, served on numerous committees, authored scores of articles and blogs on important living benefit topics, and been interviewed or cited for dozens of media publications including National Public Radio (NPR) and the New York Times. I take great pride in the confidence insurers place in us when they need help developing a product and managing risk and I measure my success by the success of my clients.

Manager Employee Benefits Customer Service - Oversaw entire Employee Benefits Customer Service Department which included call center, training area, and all data processing functions. Direct management of four supervisors with indirect responsibility for 70 Customer Service Representatives.Underwriting Consultant - Underwrote individual and multi-life disability income policies, Overhead Expense, and Disability Buy-Sell coverage. Served as referral underwriter for more junior level underwriters.
