I am a university and research management professional with a passion for innovation, engagement and excellence for myself and the teams I lead in order to underpin and enable cutting edge research, learning and teaching. I am a systems thinker, empathetic leader and naturally consultative. I joined the university sector in 2006 and have held various roles at UNSW, University of Sydney and Monash University since then; primarily with a focus on large scale research entity management and strategy. I was awarded the UNSW Vice Chancellor's award for people management in 2013. From 2011-2017 I held the role of Centre Manager at the ARC Centre of Excellence for Climate System Science – a large-scale, multi-institutional research organisation headquartered at UNSW. I was then part of the successful bid for the ARC Centre of Excellence for Climate Extremes (CLEX) where I was Chief Operating Officer from its inception in 2017 until 2023.I am now the Chief Operating Officer of the ARC Centre of Excellence for the Weather of the 21st Century, led by Monash University, once again having contributed to the development of the successful centre proposal. In 2014 I graduated with a Master of Tertiary Education Management from the University of Melbourne. I have been a member of the Association for Tertiary Education Management (ATEM) since 2009 and was endorsed as an Associate Fellow in 2014. I am also a longstanding member of the Australasian Research Management Society (ARMS). These aspects of my commitment to professional development have provided me with an extensive knowledge of the Higher Education landscape in Australia and abroad which has led to invitations to speak at conferences and workshops in Australia and overseas and to provide consultation and advice to peers, colleagues and leaders across the higher education and research sectors. I have conducted scholarly research on topics such as the relationship between academic and professional staff in universities; the effects of professional staff workforce (re)structures on academics; and organisational culture and cohesion in cross-institutional research centres. Finally I am the creator of the Cle(v)er database - a flexible online tool to enhance the management of people and inter related data in research settings.
