I specialize in advertising, marketing, media and privacy law, helping clients in most areas where the branding, advertising, marketing and sales processes touch the law.I am a litigator by background and my skills range across intellectual property, data protection, privacy and electronic communications law, advertising, packaging and labelling regulatory, consumer law, gambling law and most places in between. I apply these helping clients with commercial agreements, advertising defence and offence work, clearing campaigns for publication, sponsorship, devising compliant promotions and online data capture and tracking mechanisms and with marketing and sales activity using digital platforms of all kinds. International marketing and customer data management are also areas of particular focus.For some years I have been recognized by the UK's legal profession directories as a national leader in advertising and marketing law, on which topics I frequently speak and write.In March 2013 I was also named a "Super Lawyer" for Business Affairs in the annual Thomson Reuters Super Lawyers Directory.I joined Osborne Clarke in 1999 and shortly afterwards co-founded the firm's website marketinglaw.co.uk, Europe's first dedicated online resource for advertising and marketing law, of which I am Editor. The site now has thousands of pages of reports and analysis on national and international marcoms law topics.I conceived and still chair and curate Osborne Clarke's annual "Look Back, Face Forward" marketing law forum. Now in its 14th year, this reprises the key marketing law events of the year just coming to an end and forecasts the marcoms law milestones for the year ahead. I particularly enjoy working in a digital environment because it provides endless opportunities for creative solutions to legal challenges!
