Automation of virtual machine provisioning and deprovisioning for IBM internal cloud computing resources. Programming done in Perl, with J2EE for the next phase.

Principal Software Engineer (1991-2008) • Designed/prototyped user interface for next generation pre-press system. Software used was AJAX JavaScript on browser using the Dojo framework and PHP on server side.• Using Java (in Eclipse IDE) and C++ (in Visual Studio) on Windows, upgraded and maintained the operator control panel for large pre-press systems. Project spanned over 3 years and included adding major features covering 4 releases. Packaged with Installshield.• Designed/implemented a web-based Safety&Training database in Filemaker Pro and HTML/CDML.• Maintained IT central computing systems and responded to user issues, included network troubleshooting, backup/restore. Used Perl for automation utilities. • Led 3-5 software/QA engineers to implement and run test automation software to complete quality tests prior to release. Reduced QA turnaround times and improved completeness of tests.Section Manager – Software (1979-1991)• Successfully turned around a major product that was in distress. Developed new schedule and commitments, led group (6 engineers) through design problems and focused project on successful release.• Managed 6 software engineers implementing a next generation composition system for a newspaper layout project. Handled schedules, status reporting, resource acquisition and personnel reviews for my group.• Managed a core section of an Image Control System to rasterize high-resolution output to a high-speed laser imagesetter. Took leadership after a year of design work was done and took to completion and release.• Managed software staff of 6 engineers to design an Image Control System to drive a higher resolution (300 dpi) plain paper output device from Apple front ends.• Contributed in dual role as combined manager and individual contributor for text composition system.Individual Contributor (1978-1979)• Developed the boot loader and system generation software for an early text composition system.
