Teaching a new course on the Public Policy of Affordable Housing within the Department of Political Science and Sociology. From the enactment of the 1949 Housing Act, to New Jersey's Fair Housing Act, the current and future role of federal, state and local governments to produce affordable housing will be studied. Within this examination we will argue the success or failure of the initiatives to date, and the policy alternatives, if any, that should be pursued. Considerable attention to how we build and finance affordable housing will be an integral part of the course.
