Missouri Veterans HomeProvide diagnostic and therapeutic clinical services to specialized skilled nursing facility that houses three hundred residents. Create concise reports documenting evaluation findings and therapeutic gains in order to ensure appropriate reimbursement for services from Medicare Part B and other insurance providers. Diagnostic and therapeutic services rendered have addressed wide range of disorders including dysphagia, aphasia, dysarthria, apraxia of speech, and cognitive-communicative disorders. Collaborate with administration, nursing staff, doctors, and therapy staff to regularly revise clinical protocol in attempt to enhance delivery of services. Created in-service presentation related to speech-language pathology services; I use this presentation to teach a bi-monthly training course to all new facility employees.

Regency Rehabilitation Center: Short-Term Rehabilitation and Long-Term CareEvaluated and managed dysphagia and cognitive-linguistic impairments in addition to a variety of other speech and language disorders. Extensive experience working with dementia population and patients and families from diverse ethnic backgrounds. Administered bedside swallow assessments, the Saint Louis University Mental Status Examination, and a range of other formal and informal assessment batteries of cognitive-communicative skills. Implemented therapeutic techniques such as spaced retrieval, memory aids, oral motor exercises, and training for compensatory swallow strategies. Provided frequent training and caregiver education to both facility staff and patient family members. I also initiated and trained co-workers on several changes to protocol within the speech therapy department.

Acute Care, Acute Rehab, Outpatient TherapyEvaluated and managed dysphagia, cognitive-linguistic communication disorders, aphasia, and dysarthria. Administered several assessment tools including clinical bedside swallow assessments, Videofluoroscopic Swallow Studies, the Cognitive Linguistic Quick Test, Rivermead Behavioral Memory Test, Western Aphasia Battery, and informal assessment batteries of cognitive-communicative skills. Utilized wide range of treatment techniques including integral stimulation, semantic feature analysis, metacognitive strategies, various forms of working memory and attentional training, and variety of compensatory strategies. Implemented dietary modifications and practice with rehabilitative and compensatory techniques to improve swallow function. Created departmental patient education materials related to dysphagia.

Therapeutic School and Center for Autism ResearchProvided ongoing therapeutic services to adolescents and young adults with autism and other developmental disabilities. Treat receptive and expressive language, speech, and pragmatic language impairments. Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) was frequently utilized. Administered the "TEACCH Transition Assessment Profile" and diagnostic trial periods for AAC devices.

Acute CareEvaluated and managed dysphagia in acute care setting. Performed clinical bedside swallow assessments and analyzed FEES exams. Assisted in administration of FEES exams and administration and analysis of VFSS. Regularly interacted with interdisciplinary healthcare team to maximize patient care.

Craniofacial ClinicDiagnosed and recommended management of speech, language, and feeding impairments in children with craniofacial anomalies. Contributed to daily interdisciplinary healthcare team meetings. Assessments administered include the "Fluharty Preschool Speech and Language Screening Test" and the "Goldman-Fristoe Test of Articulation".

Inpatient Rehabilitation (Johnston R. Bowman Health Center)Provided ongoing assessment and treatment to diverse patient population for cognitive-linguistic communication disorders, dysarthria, aphasia, and dysphagia. Administered range of assessment instruments including the "Mini-Mental State Examination", "Cognitive Linguistic Quick Test", "Rivermead Behavioral Memory Test", and "Assessment of Language-Related Functional Activities".

SLP Outpatient ClinicProvided assessment and treatment to children and adults for wide range of acquired speech and language disorders including cognitive-linguistic disorders, aphasia, and dysarthria. Administered range of assessment instruments including the "Cognitive Linguistic Quick Test" and "Western Aphasia Battery".

Kellman Corporate Community Elementary School, Fuller Elementary School, and King Elementary SchoolProvided assessment and treatment to children with range of speech and language disorders. Administered individual, group, and in-class therapy. Administered range of assessment instruments including the "Goldman-Fristoe Test of Articulation", "Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test", "Comprehensive Assessment of Spoken Language", and "Clinical Evaluation of Language Fundamentals".
