I am a Senior Consultant in the Engineering Asset Management team, in Adelaide, specialising in technology strategy, systems engineering and mechanical engineering across energy, transport and defence. I am responsible throughout the delivery lifecycle from supporting business development, to producing tender responses, leading and performing technical work and project managing teams and commercial performance. My ability to adapt to new technical disciplines and sectors has allowed me to support renewable and nuclear energy, the decarbonisation of transport, complex defence programmes, national infrastructure development and to develop Frazer-Nash’s robotics capability.My work in technology management bridges the gap between technical specialism and management, by understanding scientific and engineering detail and interpreting how it affects operational strategy. In this role I work with clients by ensuring we really understand the problem and identify and/or develop all the possible technologies, concepts and options that are possible. This means we can select and pursue the best approach for their needs. I help clients and colleagues through novel idea generation, concept development planning, horizon scanning for technology, numerical modelling of systems, economic analysis of engineering projects, systems engineering and project/program management.

Responsible for undertaking a wide range of technical research, consultancy and business development work within the area of tidal stream energy. Key focus was in analysing and understanding the turbulent marine environment, understanding the performance and loads on tidal energy devices, and investigating the influence of engineering design decisions on the levelised cost of energy (LCOE).- Based in Shanghai for 3 months, responsible for business development for tidal energy services in the Asia Pacific region (specifically China, Japan and South Korea)- Developed software to analyse tidal stream data for the purpose of simulation of tidal devices and energy yield predictions for device and project developers. - Developed a cost of energy modelling code for tidal energy devices from best practice for offshore wind and mechanical design.- Evaluated mechanical design.- Developed DNV GL Garrad Hassan’s internal load calculation definition guidance for tidal energy converters, combining and improving on standards from IEC and Germanischer Lloyd.- Developed numerical models of novel tidal energy converters and undertaking validation studies.- Performed technical due diligence of a tidal energy device developer for investors.- Project manager for a physical modelling work package to support research. - Providing training in site-data analysis and numerical modelling of tidal turbines.

Design of injection-moulded plastic and aluminium die-cast housings to Ingress Protection (IP) standards using Pro/Engineer. Technical and financial evaluation of proposed designs using Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and costing meetings.
