Stephen has more than 20 years experience as a project manager, project architect, and construction administrator. He has served as a lead designer, client/contractor contact, and directed teams to produce design and construction documents. Instrumental to three medical office projects for Stanford Medical Center. The Byers’ Eye Institute in Palo Alto involved the conversion of an existing office park building to consolidate Stanford's outpatient ophthalmology services and state of the art diagnostic and treatment clinics. The 31,000 sf program includes clinics, clinical support, and a surgery center comprising 4 laser surgery rooms and related procedure support spaces. For Kaiser, served as project manager and design lead of Kaiser's first Pediatric Cardiovascular Operating Room. Coordinated teams of surgeons from Stanford, UCSF, and Kaiser. Developed the six-phase plan to convert two standard ORs into one large OR and related equipment room while the OR suite was in full operation. Was instrumental in shifting the firm to 3D BIM modeling of almost all projects. Was among the first to learn Revit, identified colleagues for BIM training, and identified projects to be designed and documented in BIM.He has led teams on projects ranging from a 9-story, 250,000 s.f. office building in Arkansas to a ground-up university in India (through DD) to a 40-story, five-star hotel in Shanghai to $7.5 mil commercial lobby and façade renovation in Philadelphia to high-end residential and retail renovations in Manhattan. His projects have included brick masonry facades, architectural precast concrete, stucco facades, glass and aluminum curtainwall systems, and engineered wood frame construction. Stephen has served as a primary designer, client/contractor contact, and directed teams of architects and interns in production of design and construction documents. He has directed remote teams of associated architects on projects in the U.S., China, and India. Coordinated the efforts of outsourced draftspersons, designers, renderers and model makers in the U.S., China, and India. Directed and coordinated the efforts of entire design teams, working with engineers and consultants from prestigious international Structural, MEP, Acoustical and Vertical Transportation firms.Stephen always works to develop positive, trusting working relationships with clients and maintained them from initial client meetings through successful project completion. He has prepared and presented designs to individual clients, corporate boards, and various committees to secure design approvals.
