Key responsibilities in this corporate position: conduct fire safety and security training for the CDHB's 9500 staff, design and implementation of training modules, fire evacuation plans/procedures and trial evacuation drills, Evacuation Chair training and the support of the day to day operational aspects in the area of Fire for the whole of the District Health Board Canterbury. My role includes tasks such as site inspections of the hospital at large, owned and leased CDHB buildings. In this I liaise with all relevant internal and external stakeholders, compile, correlate and advise on fire relevant matters, features/equipments and evacuation procedures/ training for new and existing buildings. This also includes attending fire incident briefings and emergency strategy planning meeting. My achievement for the CDHB: completion of an internal audit in relation to the fire safety systems and practice in the context of the Fire Safety and Building Regulations 2006, Fire Service Act 1975 and the Building Act building and compliance/code(s) on one of the larger CDHB hospital site. Personal ongoing professional development: CIMS (Coordinated Incident Management System in health) , comprehensive First Aid Course and the Trainer Certificate for the Evacuation Chair Training.Member of professional special evacuation consultant interest group, attendance of conference events and professional technical trainings and full professional membership in the Fire Protection Association as a Fire Evacuation Consultant.On completion of my project with the CDHB I choose to return to my family in Auckland and continue in my role as a CEO of Aware Ltd., providing Fire Safety Training and Fire Evacuation Advice & Support
