Responsible for leading business development and operations of the Ohio and West Virginia Transportation Group. Accomplishments include the following: Promoted and implemented a Service Line Organization in Ohio, Michigan West Virginia to improve communications, coordination and accountability; Reorganized company Transportation Team to improve operational efficiency; Implemented Go/No Go procedures; Managed pursuits in Ohio, West Virginia and other states; Implemented new Transportation QA/QC procedures; Managed projects for ODOT Districts 10 and 11, KYOVA, ODNR and Transportation Research Center. Implemented new Project Management Plan procedures. Also, led the establishment of the new West Virginia office.

Cincinnati, Ohio

Vice President/Project Manager/Ohio Business Development Manager responsible for project management, business development, marketing, strategic planning, and personnel development. As the lead entrepreneur, established the HDR Cincinnati, Ohio office in July 2002. Since that time, HDR expanded into Columbus and Cleveland and included a total Ohio staff of nearly 70 professionals, including over 50 civil engineering related specialists. Specific responsibilities included: managing transportation planning and design projects for public and private sector clients; developing relationships with new and established clients; identifying projects and developing pursuit strategies; achieving annual bookings goals; responding to request for qualifications and letters of interest; preparing technical scope and fee proposals; developing teaming strategies; ensuring project quality; and managing political advocates.

Harrisburg, Pennsylvania Area

Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Specialist (GS-13) responsible for promoting deployment of ITS to improve safety and operational efficiency of transit and highway networks. Provided expertise in development of statewide and local ITS plans and programs; offered technical assistance to statewide and local project sponsors; approved and provided oversight on highway and transit projects identified in federal legislation; identified and coordinated training for public and private partners; and approved and authorized federal funding for projects.

Columbus, Ohio Area

Transportation Planning Engineer (GS-12) responsible for reviewing and approving the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program, State Planning and Research Program, and CMAQ Applications. In this role, also ensured that Metropolitan Transportation Improvement Programs, MPO Annual Work Programs, and MPO Transportation Plans were in conformance with federal regulations. In addition, regularly participated in local and state wide transportation planning studies, including the IR71 and Eastern Corridor Major Investment Studies in the Cincinnati Metropolitan Region.

Bowling Green, Oh

District Planning Engineer responsible for managing the District’s planning, safety, and environmental programs. Assessed and ranked highway maintenance and safety improvement projects for the eight-county District, reviewed potential highway projects and assigned design parameters according to state and federal requirements, and was the ODOT representative on many local safety and metropolitan planning organization committees, including the Transportation and Land Use Committee and Transportation Planning Committee. Responsibilities also included responding regularly to concerns of local state and federal legislators, local jurisdictions, internal customers, other governmental agencies, and media on transportation related issues.

District Traffic Engineer responsible for managing the operations of the Traffic Department. Supervised and evaluated transportation engineers and support personnel, prepared and reviewed traffic engineering studies, plans and applications, and supervised the maintenance of signs, pavement markings, and signals on Interstate, State, and U.S. Routes. Also, reviewed traffic control and maintenance of traffic plans prepared by public and private entities and advised local governmental agencies on requirements contained in the MUTCD, OMUTCD, and ORC.

Transportation Engineer responsible for managing the design and preparation of highway construction plans. Supervised and evaluated teams in the design of culverts, storm sewers, and highways, and worked with internal departments, consultants, and county and city agencies to manage and develop transportation related projects.
