Architected the transition of this health plan focused consulting company from a staffing orientation to a full service consulting organization by implementing standard processes to increase consistency, developing a new client relationship model using consultative selling and client collaboration to drive sales and client satisfaction, defining and recruiting new advisory consults and increasing the scope of services to include business strategy and operations rather than just technology. Successfully oversaw a variety of business and technology engagements for new health plan clients

Took over the leadership of this struggling disruptive start up focused on medical tourism for self insured employers. The program provides the option for their patients to have major surgery overseas saving both the employer and patient significant costs. Redesigned patient processes to provide a higher level of care and contact, resulting in excellent patient feedback and client satisfaction.

Various full-time business & consulting activities including M&A advisory, startup assistance and personal investing after the acquisition of SafeGuard Dental and Vision by MetLife.

Responsible for day-to-day operations and business development activities for this dental insurance and managed care company with $220 million revenue and 350 staff. Successfully integrated five acquisitions and completed a reverse stock split to take the company private. Implemented new organizational structure and processes to improve service delivery and began publishing a quarterly “Service Report Card”. Developed new market segmentation strategy for sales with different distribution approaches and products in each segment. Strengthened the senior management by adding key staff, creating a strong, focused team which completed a successful turnaround. At the request of the major shareholders, analyzed exit options, closing sale with MetLife in early 2008.

Responsible for field case management and bill review operations to improve return-to-work timeframes for workers’ compensation insurers and large employers. Oversaw $17 million operating revenue in 20 states with 22 offices and 300 professional staff. Architect of strategy to use technology to assist clients in managing their workers’ compensation and disability costs.

Vice President - Developing Businesses, (CCN) Responsible for five “non-core” business units with total annual revenues of $35+ million. Evaluated each to determine strategic fit and developed plan for divesting, stabilizing or expanding nationally. This resulted in the sale of VMR (an independent medical review organization) and ISP (a workers’ compensation system developer) to a competitor and Venture Capitalist group respectively, investment in ROI (an on-site medical and vocational rehabilitation case management company) and First Notice Inc. (an “800” call center for reporting work related injuries), and restructuring of Preferred Works Inc. (a workers’ compensation and non-occupational disability claims administrator). 
Vice President - Health Plan Group, (VHI) 
Staff position working for parent company, reporting to COO, responsible for special projects including acquisitions, integration planning and major inter-company systems projects. 
Vice President – Workers’ Compensation Bill Review SBU, (CCN) 
Assumed responsibility for $12 million strategic business unit (SBU) involved in workers’ compensation bill review which was in crisis. Managed a dramatic turnaround within 3 months, salvaging and expanding business with the major client (CNA Insurance) and establishing national reputation. 
Vice President - Chief Information Officer, (CCN) 
Responsible for all systems development and implementation activities, technology planning, distributed data center management, voice and data communications and corporate support services with 110 professional staff. Operating budget of $11M annually. Establish an information architecture utilizing “best of breed” operational support systems with a data warehouse for reporting and management analysis.

Responsible for all crude oil and finance/administrative systems projects for this large independent oil production and refining company.
