Metro PresidentDevry University Mar 2000 - Sep 2011Orlando, FloridaOpened DeVry University's first brick and mortar campus in the state of Florida. Oversaw the construction of a new 72,000 sf/12 acre campus, identified and brought aboard key leadership and an additional staff of 80+ employees in the first year of operation, growing the campus to 400 in 2001 and the Orlando Metro to more than 1,500 graduate and undergraduate students by 2008. Prior to their being given "metro" status, provided leadership to our Tampa and Jacksonville locations, opening and staffing new facilities in both cities. Full P/L responsibility, overseeing all departments, including enrollment management, student finance, student services, administrative services, facilities, IT and career services. Consistently among the top 5% of the DVU system in student satisfaction (NPS), persistence, A/R. Provided input to and executed the University's strategic plan, administering an annual budget that included more than $20M in revenues, significant capital outlays and salary/expense planning. External and governmental relations work with DeVry included lobbying efforts on both the state and national levels in Florida and Washington DC. Represented DeVry in the media – writing OpEd pieces, providing interviews, participating in multiple news pieces for Fox TV, Univision and The Daily Buzz, while being the focus of a TNT piece on “Difference Makers” in the community for work in promoting STEM education. Involved in multiple outreach initiatives with legislators, the business and education communities, non-profits and local Chambers. Served on multiple Boards of Directors or Trustees for organizations such as The Foundation for Orange County Public Schools, the Orlando EDC, the Brevard County EDC, Seniors First, Tech America (formerly, the American Electronics Association) and Promoting Regional Improvement in Science and Math (PRISM). Currently sit on the Board of Trustees for the Orlando Science Center.

State St., Chicago, Il[Concurrent with Executive Coaching post] Selected to join the first group of Fellows by World Business Chicago and their Plan for Economic Growth and Jobs - an initiative of Chicago Mayor, Rahm Emanuel. This was a 3-month interim assignment, on loan from DeVry University to the City of Chicago, calling for labor market research and relationship building with constituents from across Cook County's diverse workforce development community -- funding sources, higher education contacts, training providers, One Stop providers, etc. Assignment brought me into daily contact with the City's leaders in helping to improve and expand the region's ability to develop, attract and retain a high quality workforce.
