Goals: I seek opportunities to advance culturally competent journalism in the U.S. through community engagement and public service.Relevant experience- After retiring from my role as VP of Radio at WNIN, I have co-founded the Evansville News Lab, which assists community groups seeking to advance civic journalism solutions. Our current project is assisting with the launch of a City Bureau Documenters hub in Evansville.14 years (2008-2022)- NPR affiliate station manager, digital manager and multimedia journalist. During that time, WNIN received over 100 state, regional and national news awards for my own work or as a manager of other journalists. They included three national Edward R. Murrow awards, a Sigma Delta Chi award and numerous PMJA awards. During the period 2016-2021, WNIN earned nine overall excellence awards from the Associated Press and RTDNA. I was a finalist for a Scripps Howard award and an IRE award. I also mentored journalists of color to produce the successful bilingual podcast, ¿Qué Pasa, Midwest?, which won or participated in two national Murrow awards for innovation.8 years-Online journalism and web development. I guided 14wfie.com from its beginning to its current status as the dominant preferred site for local online news among all mediums, including the newspaper, in Evansville, Indiana.14 years- Award winning broadcast journalist.
