I have been managing the Ceiling Hoist users Club (CHuC) website since 2007 when it was started by the late Sue Maynard Campbell MBE. Sadly Sue passed away in 2008 and I continue to manage the website as a tribute to her never ending campaigning for disability rights and equality. CHuC exists as a resource for all the ceiling hoist users by listing accommodation with hoists and hoist suppliers and installers and continues to cajole and persuade accommodation providers to install ceiling hoists. CHuC is a non-profit organization and the only income is from advertising on our web pages which just about pays for the web hosting costs. I am a member of the Inclusive Hotels Network and we are working on a best practice guidance document for hotels who may consider a ceiling hoist as a way to make their rooms more accessible and inclusive. There is a sound financial reason to install a hoist too with an estimated 500,000+ hoist users in the UK which is constantly growing. Installing a hoist shows they believe in their Corporate Social Responsibility too!
