Having worked for the majority of my career as a detective I have centred my role predominantly within specialist roles investigating serious and organised crime. This has included working within undercover operations, surveillance, and high profile murder and firearms cases. For the past five and a half years I have been working within the Home Office as an A/Detective Inspector assisting in developing their fledgeling Immigration Enforcement capabilities. This has included various roles that have included leading their North London Crime Team as the SIO lead for numerous organised crime investigations both nationally and internationally; leading on liaison and building alliances with other European and international law enforcement partners; Advising and leading on international joint investigations at the Hague; and, acting as the covert and tactical advisor to four Home Office teams covering the South East of England. Other projects whilst there included; 1. being part of the team that won the government award for the London Crime Teams for 'Customer Service Excellence.' This is an award open to all industry and not just restricted to government or enforcement agencies; and, 2. creating a proactive task force from scratch that would then specialise in UK/European investigations. This led to me working with enforcement authorities in Finland, Czech Republic, France, Belgium, Netherlands and even Ghana and India. Other work there as a Detective Inspector led me to conduct investigations across the entire UK including enquiries in Scotland, and conducting Strategic peer reviews on investigations in Northern Ireland.3. I also provided on the job training and was a mentor for Home Office staff up to and included Assistant Director level.
