The consolidated entity is one of the largest independently owned fresh food distributors in the country. Serving over 20,000 customer locations across 25 states and distributing over 80 million cases of fresh produce, proteins, specialty processed produce, grab-and-go offerings and specialty foods annually.Previously, he was CEO of The Grinstead Group. During the same period, he started up and acquired numerous other companies, most were vertically integrated in the fresh produce supply chain. Prior to PRO*ACT, Steve spent three years as C.O.O of Standard Fruit and Vegetable in Dallas. Prior to his tenure at Standard, Steve co-founded and was President of Fresh America, a produce distribution management company. He has over 40 years of experience in the fresh food industry.Steve has been very active in industry-wide organizations and was the 2003 Chairman of United Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Association. He was recently Chairman of the United Fresh Foundation. Steve is a long time member of the PMA, National Restaurant Association, and the Food Marketing Institute. He recently served on the Industry Traceability Initiative Task Force and is currently serving on United’s Produce GAP Harmonization Task Force.
