For most of my life I have been in technology sales. As a kid I found a love for computers and I quickly went from building and upgrading computers to selling them and working my way into LAN/WAN sales.After graduating college I looked at a data map across the United States and realized that Denver was a major data traffic hub, so I made that my next home. This is where I was introduced to Sandler Sales, which changed my trajectory. I was able to obtain an Account Manager position with Fiber Optic Technologies Inc, a division of ICG Communications where I excelled. When the .com wave ended I’d already found my next passion and was preparing myself for my next career.Home Automation fascinated me from the first time I witnessed it in action and I spent the next 10 years moving across the US working in the residential AV industry. When the 2006 housing boom busted it was time to make another change. I loved AV and had skills there so I changed my focus to commercial AV.I moved to Austin Texas and started as an Inside Sales rep with Ford AV, eventually finding myself working with The University of Texas at Austin. As I made more connections within UT I expanded into providing full project services, designing and building out large lecture halls, an endless sea of classrooms, and eventually even the football stadium.I was with Ford AV for over 10 years and it was a great experience. I continued to learn Sandler Sales skills, worked with some incredible professionals, and this experience changed my life. After earning The President’s Award and surpassing $35M in sales it was time for my next challenge. My incredible wife Nicole Moss had been working to build our ‘side hustle’ and it was time for me to jump in.Moss Consulting helps business owners in Austin, Dallas, Houston, Oklahoma City, Phoenix, and Denver to identify, recruit, hire, train, manage, manage payroll, provide benefit administration, and off board team members so business owners can focus on what they got into business to do.Today we have grown to be able to take over the whole HR department for companies with 1-1,000 employees. The business owner gets a turn-key HR department without the cost or distraction of having to build and maintain it.Nicole and I work to learn new skills to grow as business owners so we can meet the constant stream of new challenges we face. If you had asked me at the begging what I expected from being an entrepreneur I would have described something vastly different from what it actually is, but I love it!
