In September 2005 I secured employment, on an ad-hoc basis with KBR as a Mechanical Technician on the Scott platform. I became part of the core crew in May 2006 first in the campaign squad, and then later, with the platform core crew when the campaign team merged with the regular core crew. While there I have carried out breakdown and planned maintenance work on a wide range of equipment, e.g. Pumps, Compressors, valves, pipework, turbines, emergency generators and fire systems. Working from the SAP generated plan, raising permits and work orders where required, partaking in and leading risk assessments, sourcing and ordering materials, raising material master requests and recording work history in the SAP system.I attended various training courses including hand and hydraulic torqueing, rotalign, small bore tubing, rigging, lifeboat maintenance, coxswain, gas testing, abrasive wheels, Be Safe and hazard awareness. I also completed several CBT courses such as, confined space entry, manual handling, waste disposal and COSHH.Over my last couple of years on Scott I made myself available to assist with the planning and preparation for the annual shutdown. was quite heavily involved with the preparation of proforma’s, scaffold, rigging and lagging requests, raising permits, HAZAN reviews, scoping and ordering materials and checking materials after they have arrived on board.I had the opportunity, on occasion, to take on a supervisory role, looking after contract technicians during shutdowns and other periods of high activity.I have also stood in for the platform maintenance lead technician on one occasion.Between 2014 and 2020 I have been working as a Mechanical Construction Foreman, first on the Claire Ridge and for the last two years on the Mariner. I have been involved with the supervision of a team of mechanical fitters installing sea water lift, fire water, water injection and booster, crude oil export and booster and several other smaller pumps. Also safety equipment, HVAC equipment, valves, actuators, coolers, and other equipment.After the construction phase of the project was completed I worked for several months as platform maintenance technician, before Covid and the price of oil forced a staff reduction in June 2019.Since Feb 2021 I have been working as a pump fitter for Erik's in Swansea. Stripping, fault finding, rebuilding and testing pumps before dispatch to the customer.
