Responsible for regulating security in the civil nuclear industry to, inter alia, ensure that security plans required under the Nuclear Industries Security Regulations 2003 are relevant, kept up to date and that periodic inspections are carried out to assess the state of compliance. Another responsibility is promoting the influence of the UK in the area of global nuclear security by participation, as required, in International Atomic Energy Agency Consultants/Technical meetings and the review of relevant draft nuclear series documents. Participated in a number of International Physical Protection Advisory Service Missions to IAEA Member States and led three of these missions.

Responsible for the provision of security advice to staff at all levels of a 10,000+ multi-disciplinary workforce. Implemented all aspects of Company/Security Regulatory policy. Duties included nuclear security assessments and investigations into breaches of security. Advised heads of departments, project managers and planners on the most cost-effective methods of achieving acceptable levels of physical security.

Responsible to the Director Technology, for the provision of security advice to staff at all levels, of a 1,500 multi-disciplinary workforce. Duties embraced nuclear security audits, investigations into all breaches of security and missing controllable documents, handover musters and the control and management of the asset risk management programme. Advised heads of departments, project managers and planners on the most cost-effective methods of achieving acceptable levels of physical security. Other duties included staff security indoctrination briefings, advice on all aspects of security and awareness training. Through inspection ensured that IT System Security Policies and Security Operating Procedures were in place for all networks and standalone PC's.

As Counter Intelligence operative carried out multi-discipline security duties including air transport security throughout the world for VVIP flights and sensitive cargo. Experience in counter espionage, personnel vetting casework, the generation of espionage and terrorism threat assessments, and the specification of countermeasures. As a member of a security survey team conducted security surveys and audits of national key points, and produced comprehensive reports. As Team Leader, had responsibilities for intelligence gathering, liaison with outside agencies, collating intelligence and producing reports; surveillance operations and covert inspections of installations.
