Steve is a seasoned Development Project Director with a proven track record in project management and the delivery of major developments within the UK. He has had a wealth of experience over a 40-year period, in both Main Contracting and Client Developer organisations, providing him with a comprehensive understanding of project delivery from concept to completion and handover to operations. In Main Contracting, Steve has played pivotal roles in planning, programming, and coordination of major projects under various contracts. His portfolio includes commercial offices, retail, hospitals, a football stadium extension, and residential schemes. His responsibilities have ranged from procurement & preconstruction planning to implementing programme controls & reporting in the delivery phase. Notably, he served as the Strategic Planning Manager for Carillion, delivering the General Command Headquarters (GCHQ) in Cheltenham, a key £750m PFI project for the Government. In joining Westfield in 2001, Steve’s focus shifted to developer led project management from inception and feasibility stages. Westfield’s integrated delivery approach allowed him to manage and coordinate inhouse functions across development, design, leasing, construction, and operations. His predevelopment duties included the establishment of the client brief, concept design, management of consultants and advisors, through to land assembly, legals and obtaining planning permission. During the build phase, as Client Development Project Director, he oversaw the procurement of the building contract, implemented the contract administration, and coordinated the final handover to the operational team. Since retiring in May 2022 and taking some time out to reflect on life balance and motivations, Steve is now eager and re-energised to re-engage with the workplace. He is particularly interested in challenging projects or organisations where constructive and collaborative engagement fosters success and enjoyment. He is open to exploring potential opportunities where his skills and experience can add value and provide a sense of achievement. He is considering either part time or short-term roles and positions.
