Manager - Government Engines & Space Propulsion Warranty Programs
Pratt & Whitney
Manager - responsible for all aspects of military & space engine warranty programs - commencing with the initial proposal and culminating upon expiration of warranty and service agreement coverage. Proposal activity included the successful preparation, marketing, liability analysis and contract negotiations necessary to win highly competitive contracts. Implementation entailed administration of warranty claims including logistics support and the material/contract management necessary to repair or replace returned customer hardware – including contract flowdown negotiations with subcontractor repair facilities (e.g. Allied Signal, Bet Shemesh Engines, Samsung Industries, Singapore Technology Aerospace Engines (STAE), Israeli Aircraft Industries, etc), and the identification/ordering of tooling and spare part inventory requirements necessary to meet stringent contractual repair times. Responsibilities also included P&L for all financials. Major accomplishments include: • Implemented an aggressive "chargeback" program to the P&W manufacturing and vendor base for quality escapes to minimize incurred warranty costs. • Managed the design and implementation of a world class Warranty Claims Management System (WCMS) which facilitates a repairables management infrastructure and provides the detail tracking necessary to minimize warranty/service policy repair costs. • Increased Non-warranty related Over and Above sales from zero to over $54 million in just four years, achieving in excess of a 52% Return on Sales (ROS). • Proposed and negotiated comprehensive Warranty/Guarantee programs for South Korea, Israel, Greece and Singapore – recognized as key proposal discriminators - contributing to the selection of the F100-PW-229 engine in strategically important competitions.
