An opportunity in 2008 to accept a design challenge for an alternative drinking water pump for at-risk people in developing countries profoundly influences our work today. Two recent startups include “Allied” in the name as a nod to the relationships forged over 40 years with individuals and companies that bring their specialized skills alongside ours to invent and develop products that will improve the quality of life for some of the world’s most vulnerable. The innovations that we target are being designed to meet detailed criteria not being addressed through currently available products, whether in terms of cost, functionality, or maintenance requirements in order to benefit specific segments of the population. 2020 was a challenging year in many ways and we appreciate all those who have helped to provide this startup with so much momentum.
