A leader in the governance of financial indices, WMBA Limited was one of the first FCA approved Benchmark Administrators under the EU Benchmarks Regulation ('BMR'). As Head of Data of WMBA Limited, main responsibilities involve overseeing the data business of the firm and to ensure indices and benchmarks are administered in compliance with relevant regulation and market standards.Prior to the BMR authorisation, WMBA Limited coordinated a successful Financial Conduct Authority application to undertake the regulated activity of Benchmark Administration of two critical benchmarks (SONIA and RONIA) under the FCA's UK MAR regime. The contents of the application included but was not limited to documenting infrastructure design, systems and governance over monitoring and data collection, continuity planning and a regulated business plan to ensure economic viability through cost v’s revenue analysis in line with the FCA’s FRAND requirements. In fulfilling the requirement as an FCA authorised firm, I have developed a good working relationship with the regulator’s authorisation and supervisory teams and with contacts from technical, compliance and legal departments within contributing firms to ensure ongoing compliance, most notably to the BMR and MAR8.
