I head the Video Delivery Research Team at BT, Ipswich. Our work is targeted at improving the cost-quality tradeoff for delivering commercial-grade video services.Most recently, we have focused on optimisation of the perceptual quality of streamed video for a given network congestion costs. This uses aggregation (backhaul) network far more efficiently than the normal Constant Bitrate Streaming, as well as providing a more consistent user experience.Previous research has been wide-ranging, including Natual-Language Processing (Machine Translation), Digital Signal Processing and coding.My first degree is in Physics and my PhD is in Human Geography.Specialties: Video Streaming, Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing, Digital Signal Processing.
