In the words of David Price, UK Innovation Unit, "SCIL is what would have happened if Edison had ben an educator rather than an inventor." (Open, 2014). Conceived in 2005 by Stephen Harris, SCIL functioned both as a banner for rallying learning innovation internally as well as an outward-facing consultancy and research unit. In my role at SCIL as Director of Innovation I lead the development of a range of professional learning experiences for teams of school leaders, teachers, and entire school communities. I traveled internationally on three global research tours to seek out examples of best practice and innovative practice (picture a venn diagram) around learning space configurations and culture. I also presented conference keynotes internationally: Johannesburg, Anchorage, Auckland, Christchurch, Perth, and countless Australian events. My culminating project was the invention of an integrated learning space design tool, called "Design/Engage". Consisting of archetypes represented by dry-erase etched magnetic whiteboards and magnetic cards, the kit assisted teams to apply collaborative design to create and dovetail spatial configurations with curriculum programs.

On the senior leadership team of this K to 12 school I drove a range of innovations in the context of rapid growth and the provision of new collaborative buildings and spaces.Key themes included:* matching technology - especially BYOD, use of an LMS, and what's now called 'Flipped Learning' - to the capabilities of a flexible space. A nice passion project was exploiting 3D online spaces.* teacher collaboration* curriculum & program design, with an emphasis on scaffolded choice* re-writing spatial conventions, e.g. permissions, routines, interactive modes

Teacher of French and English, Years 7 to 12 • Pioneered online delivery of HSC French Beginners and Continuers using Moodle, Blackboard Elluminate and other tools. Taught senior classes in an online mode for 5 years.
