Responsible for the oversight and direction of the communications and social media function for NY CREATES, along with the development, refinement, support, and deployment of various communications vehicles to assist in highlighting NY CREATES’ global research, technology deployment, economic growth programs, and its workforce development initiatives. This includes fostering relations with all critical stakeholders, including, but not limited to, key program leaders, research partners, and colleges and universities. The position works closely with the executive suite of NY CREATES to ensure that the organization’s media and community outreach messages are appropriately and effectively communicated. In addition, Steve works closely with the President and other leaders in an advisory role on internal communications needs, challenges, and the potential impacts of organizational changes to foster message consistency, translating objectives into effective communications strategies. He is also the NY CREATES connection point to local, regional, national, and international media relations activities.

Responsible for the support, development, and deployment of various communications to assist in augmenting SUNY Polytechnic Institute's global educational, research, development, and economic growth programs. This includes fostering relations with all critical stakeholders, including corporate partners, government and economic development agencies, and SUNY Poly students, faculty, and staff. In this position, he plays an enabling role in the creation and use of innovative print, digital, online and video communications platforms; provides support for SUNY Poly's marketing and media relations activities; and is engaged in the development and execution of creative ideas that enhance the generation and retention of funding and business opportunities for SUNY Poly within the internationally competitive higher education and R&D communities.

As the lead Capital Region reporter and weekend anchor, I reported on a variety of in-depth stories, including nationally covered court cases such as the Christopher Porco murder trial as well as state political stories, Tropical Storm Irene's impact, and I also detailed many facets of the Great Recession and its fallout, along with other economic and financial stories. I often produced original news reports by videotaping interviews and obtaining appropriate b-roll footage, and then wrote, edited, and aired or posted online the final video/news report. I earned AP awards in 2006 and 2011 for two feature stories. As an anchor, I oversaw the editing of news copy and presented news to viewers across upstate New York, and notably anchored six-hours of live television coverage as Tropical Storm Irene devastated the region, utilizing my vast database of contacts to obtain the latest information for viewers when everyone's safety was tantamount and efficient reporting mattered.
