Gregory Elliott of Brown University explains “mattering” as “the sense that one is a significant part of the lives of other people, institutions, one's community, or society as a whole". As founder of the Make It Matter Foundation I am leveraging my resources (time; money; wisdom; generosity; relationships; etc) a long with my passion for creative and strategic thinking to inspire people to bring more humanity to the business world by supporting conscious leaders who aspire to create positive change through their various platforms.I believe the greatest gift I have to offer the world is in my continuous unfolding and presence which is why I invest so heavily in my own personal practices of authentic leadership. By doing the work that is only mine to do I believe I can show up in the roles that matter the most to me --father, husband, mentor / coach, investor, supporter, donor, etc. I believe our work is one of the best human development mechanisms we have available! We get to practice who we want to become 40-50+ hours a week and for most of us, no other place can get that much of our time and attention. I believe as leaders we have the ultimate responsibility to create the very conditions for people to do the best work of their lives in the environment we are leading within. This includes a goal not to just make them great at work, but great in every area of their life. It is through this type of mindset that businesses inspire their people to create greater value for all stakeholders (consumers; employees; suppliers; consultants; government, community; shareholders).I believe: - growth and development is directly correlated to level of humility, curiosity, self awareness and openness one possesses - our biggest mistakes give us our biggest opportunity to learn and grow - making yourself vulnerable makes you more personable and people will rise up to help you - everybody has an invisible story we can't see and thus nobody should ever be judged or stereotyped - capitalism is the most ethical form of business as it is a voluntary exchange of goods and services between buyers and sellers - on our worst days we did something special and on our best days we still had room for improvement-- take time to reflect on what these might be
