The short story: 40-plus years in Motorsports, 35 years as a professional driver, 30 years as a driving instructor.I have tested several hundred vehicles over my thirty-plus year performance testing career, ranging from everyday production vehicles to the most exotic racing cars. My specialty is turning subjective vehicle performance “feelings” into objective data.My more than 15 years at Toyota gave me the opportunity to be on the leading edge of technology and trends in the automotive industry. With my last six years spent in an advanced product planning department, my competitive analysis skills, historical market perspectives, and future customer predictions will have a clear impact on Toyota’s product vision for many years to come. My extensive competition and performance driving background allowed me to reach “Advanced Instructor” status (the highest grade within the US company) where I taught and evaluated many of the new-hire engineers in high-speed driving techniques.I founded Gearhead's Garage in 2005. We offer automotive performance components, specialty and race car fabrication, tuning, trackside support and logistics, as well as product development services including instrumented testing and performance driving. I am a member of SEMA, a trade organization supporting the automotive aftermarket industry. I am also an active SCCA member campaigning a Miata on the local autocross and rallycross circuits as well as supporting other Mazda racers at both the amateur and pro levels.
