Highland is a privately owned manufacturer and facility maintenance company in the oil and gas sector of which I have grown with for the last 10 years. My role as the General Manager was to oversee all manufacturing operations from job start to completion. I managed shop fabrication, prefabricated building division, administration and the coating facility which in total averaged 40 personnel. I managed all transportation needs for Highland cargo as well as customer direct deliver needs throughout North America as required.During this time I performed the role of a General Contractor to design and build steel building structures. Handled every aspect from quoting, design, purchasing, supervising construction and billing. Specialized in coordinating North American load movements for the worlds largest wind turbine manufacture. This involved traveling to many port city’s for vessel discharging and on site delivery surveys, delivery coordinating and scheduling. During this time I worked in most provinces where sites were located and conducted many route surveys from Prince Rupert, BC. to St John, NF to confirm the large components could deliver to proposed sites. The majority of the loads I coordinated were oversize loads using various types of specialized equipment such as blade trailers, schnabel trailers, bunk and dolly and rail. I supervised/trained all on site and office staff for this division. Worked with international freight forwarders in Denmark, Australia, and Hong Kong for Canadian originating cargo. Began operating local delivery truck, advanced into quoting and progressed to load supervising. Worked directly at customer manufacturing facilities as well as on site loading for the oil and gas industries.
