I was head hunted into Fletcher Building as part of a move "back home" to the southern hemisphere after 20 years in Asia and UK. Challenged by the then CEO and the board to grow the business from a $20 million EBIT business to a key component of the Fletcher Building portfolio of businesses, I have been able to lead a quantum shift in the way Fletcher operates in the Residential and Development world. This has included acquiring more raw land, continuing the philosophy of buying sections off development partners, and entering into long term partnerships with government and Iwi for joint community building and development for mutual benefit.

I joined Heron International in 2007 as the Development Director. I was responsible for Heron's Development Portfolio in the United Kingdom. This includes Heron Tower, the 46 Storey commercial development in the heart of the City of London where my personal role included full accountability for the development up until completion. The project was awarded the 2012 BCO best building award.As well as Heron Tower, projects we have developed over the last 6 years include The Peak (a commercial building on the edge of Mayfair in London), Heron Plaza (the new 44 storey Four Seasons Hotel and Private Residences in the City of London, The Heron (almost 300 apartments over 38 floors in the City of London), and other residential developments in the City of Westminster. As Development Director, I was involved in projects from their inception until their completion. This includes complex negotiations with planners to gain the best possible planning consent, extinguishing of issues such as rights to light, and then the evolution of the design in order to get principal contractors to build out the projects. Included in the role is the involvement in debt and equity structuring (both local and international), including government involvement in some of our projects.

I was one of the founding four directors of this property business which focused on providing key worker housing led, multiple unit developments in the heart of London. I was responsible for all of the development projects, having a staff of development, design and construction staff who reported into me.Projects which I developed included the award winning Adelaide Wharf in Hackney, Nido student living in Kings Cross, the 45 Storey 360 in south London, and the Heart of East Greenwich development. I was responsible for development, design and delivery of all projects.

Having moved from Australia to Asia in 1994, I was based in Singapore for a period of 4 years, constructing retail centers, industrial and pharmaceutical complexes. After 4 years I moved into the head of operations role for the whole of Asia, covering a geography spanning India to Japan, and South Korea to Indonesia. This included living for almost 2 years in Taiwan, and time in mainland China. I relocated with Lend Lease to the UK in 2003, responsible for Lend Lease and Bovis Lend Lease work in the core London market. This included work with Stanhope, Unilever, Her Majesty's Government, and major institutional investors.
