Toyota has a rich history in Australia dating back to the early 1950s, when several commercial Toyota vehicles were imported on a small scale. Today there have been over two million Toyota vehicles produced locally, a testament to Toyota’s employees and customers. At Toyota we strive to build quality cars. The focus is always placed on the Customer. It doesn't matter if the Customer is the operator on the next process, or the person buying the Toyota product. We put the Customer first! If we do find an issue, we "Stop, Call & Wait".I have been with Toyota since they amalgamated their operations to one site in Altona in 1994. Sadly in 2014 Toyota had to make some tough choices and choose to cease manufacturing cars in Australia by 3rd October 2017.Responsibilities• Producing sub-assembly parts by means of manual spot-welding or by feeding sub-assembly parts to a robot-cell for spot-welding by a robot. • Always confirming the quality of the sub-assembly parts produced by visual inspection or by “See & Touch” which means confirming the presence of critical spot-welds or nuts or studs with a marking pen. If something is not right, we “Stop, Call & Wait”. • Maintaining a clean & safe working environment with quality & safety in mind. Accomplishments• For the past few years now, I have been involved in a “Quality Circle”, where a team of up to 6 team members get together on a weekly basis, to come up with continuous improvement ideas to improve the production of sub-assembly parts with quality, safety & time management in mind. • Being part of the “Quality Circle” has been rewarding, as it has given me an insight of how the various problem solving techniques work.
