The USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is known worldwide for its accomplishments and innovations in conservation. Programs offered to the public are voluntary and serve to protect wildlife, promote good land use, and conserve the Nation's natural resources for future generations. This position serves as a technical resource to field staff, and the public in implementing conservation planning for environmental and farm production enhancement.

Designed and conducted applied field research for rice, cotton, wheat, grain sorghum, and soybeans on sharkey clays, loams, and sandy soils in support of the University's soil testing program. Managed a 40-acre rice research station for a state commodity council. Statistically analyzed and graphed data with computers, wrote technical reports and guides. Conducted over 100 research projects that, in nearly all cases, evaluated the management or improvement of plants, soils, animals, or water. During my involvement with these research projects, the most important lesson I learned is that academic knowledge serves little purpose if the information is not conveyed to people in a format that is useful and understandable.
