I have a confession: my resume might seem a bit unconventional. "Science curriculum specialist" and "farmer" aren't usually found side-by-side. But I've come to realize that these seemingly disparate passions have a lot more in common than you might think.My heart belongs to science education. There's nothing quite like the spark in a student's eye when they grasp a complex concept, design a successful experiment, or simply ask a question that makes me see the world in a new way. Whether I'm crafting a physics lesson, leading teacher workshops, or developing district-wide science curriculum, my goal is to break down big ideas, tailor instruction to meet diverse needs, and make learning an exciting adventure.But here's where things get interesting: the same problem-solving mindset, adaptability, and love of hands-on learning that drive my work in education translate seamlessly to life on the farm. Managing cattle, elk, beehives, and a diverse hunting operation requires constant analysis, strategic planning, and the ability to roll with the punches (sometimes literally, when a fence needs fixing!). From optimizing crop rotations to troubleshooting a tractor engine, I'm always learning, experimenting, and finding creative solutions.Whether I'm in the classroom, a muddy field, or huddled over a science textbook with a student, I'm driven by a deep curiosity and the belief that everyone has the potential to understand the world around them. Teaching science has taught me about more than just physics or biology – it's about fostering critical thinking, collaboration, and a lifelong love of discovery.
