I oversee all engineering training functions, and am directly responsible for the co-ordination and implementation of engineering training currency for over 120 personnel, both military and civilian.I mentor personnel development of all training staff and students within the organisational structure, administer discipline and provide training that aligns with organisational standards and increases personnel engineering competency. I ensure procedural compliance with the Defense Systems Approach to Training policy through the enforcement and review of the Squadron Training Quality Manual and all course learning specifications. A key achievement was the restructure of the Flight Servicing Course (FSC), which reduced the course from 5 to 3 weeks. This has provided newly arrived technicians, awaiting allocation of a FSC, the opportunity to be trained in core competencies via authorised task trainers. This has resulted in a fundamental increase in personnel engineering development & workforce flexibility in what continues to be an exceptionally dynamic period of operations, whilst positively influencing both collaboration & morale across the Squadron. This included the operation and supervision of engine ground running of the Rivet Joint aircraft (developed from the Boeing 739 series). I was responsible for aircrew debriefings and communicating any implications of this through to the executive management team. I would ensure that any aircraft remedial work and preventative maintenance was carried out in accordance with all relevant technical procedures, was correctly resourced, that all personnel had the relevant competency to complete the task and that task progression was concisely communicated to all relevant stakeholders. As Deputy Trade Manager my duty was to collaborate with the various continuing airworthiness and type airworthiness agencies, both in the UK and the USA, to ensure all the mechanical technical needs of the Rivet Joint aircraft were maintained and upheld. As an associated duty to both these roles, I acted as the the Tool Issue Centre Custodian for 51 Squadron. It was my responsibility to ensure that the squadron had the necessary tooling and test and measuring equipment (TME) to operate from multiple locations throughout the world. This tooling and TME had a value of £500K, for which I was accountable. It was also my duty to enforce, review and amended all policy on tool control on 51 Squadron. Show less -
